It is being estimated that during 2016, one in four Europeans with internet access bought products or services online on a weekly basis.

Although there is a definite uptake in online shopping, new research conducted by Mastercard suggests that the fear of being defrauded is still the number one reason for customers steering clear of online purchases.  

As the European eCommerce market is expected to grow by 45% between 2015 and 2018, this should result in significant revenue increases for online merchants. Unfortunately, this will also keep online merchants in the crosshairs of attackers as they remain lucrative targets.
